What is cross-context behavioral advertising in CPRA?
Cross-context behavioral advertising, according to CPRA (FAQ B.1), is referred to as “the targeting of advertising to a consumer based on the consumer’s personal information obtained from the consumer’s online activity across numerous websites.”
In simple terms, it can also be referred to as targeted advertising, which means that users are getting ads based on the information collected about them through their interactions with different websites or businesses.
According to CPRA, it’s obligatory to disclose to users that personal data, including for cross-context behavioral advertising, is collected. Users must also have the right to opt out.
The most common practice is setting up a cookie banner. Website owners can easily include an opting out of data collection and sharing option with a banner like TinyCookie. It takes just a few clicks to set up, and you can customize its design, content, buttons, and other aspects however you want.
